How to Jump Start Your Toyota in Kansas City, MO

Here at Molle Toyota we want to help with all of your automotive needs – including jump-starting a car. If you’re currently trying to repair your stranded vehicle or if you just want a bit of knowledge so you’re prepared for the future, keep reading! Neccasary Supplies

In order to jump start your vehicle you’ll need to two main things – jumper cables and another vehicle. We highly recommend keeping a good set of jumper cables in your car at all times, this way you only have find someone who is willing to help you out and has a vehicle with a relatively strong battery. Before we go into more detail we do want to warn you that jumper cables can cause damage to electric or alternative fuel vehicles, so if you or the person giving you the jump has this kind of powertrain, it’s best to get professional aid.

Jump-Starting Your Car

Step one is to make sure that both vehicles are in park or neutral with the ignition shut off. Then, you’ll want to attach one red clip to your battery’s positive terminal. You should be able to easily note this by the ‘POS’ or ‘+’ symbol. With the vehicle that is working, you’ll attach the other red cable to the positive side of that battery, along with one of black clips to the negative side. Lastly, take the remaining black clip and connect it to a metal surface somewhere on your vehicle (not next to the battery). Once everything is in place, have your friend or helpful stranger start their car and let it run for at least five minutes. This will allow enough power gets transferred over to your vehicle.

Final Steps

Now it’s time to cross your fingers and start your vehicle! If it works, make sure to drive around for several minutes to re-charge the battery and ensure you can make it where you need to go. If your car still will not start, double check the steps above and ensure the clips are connected tightly. You can try again, but this may be a sign that your battery has officially lived its life. I as very pleased with the Customer Service and problem resolution provided by the Molle Service Team. Brandon Holsburg, Jordan Darby, and Shawn Elliot did an outstanding job of administrating and resolving the complex problems I was having with my RAV4 Radio and associated smartphone and other device issues. Brandon ensured that my problem was timely assigned to the correct Subject Matter Expert , Shawn Elliot. Shawn performed the complex diagnosis required on the entertainment system to resolve the performance inconsistencies I was experiencing. Shawn purged the associated software and reinstalled the software with the latest versions and updates that were required to remedy the performance and reliability issues. He took his time to ensure the job was done right. Meanwhile, Jordan Darby, the Service Manager, effectively and throughly provided excellent oversight.

Jason did a great job explaining what was required for 70,000K+ maintenance and we broke the services down into a financially manageable schedule, so I didn't have to lay out a large amount of cash in one visit. In response to my emergency of a dead battery while I was remote in another state, everyone was very helpful and responsive. And they immediately supported me coming in after I arrived from the airport even though it was 30 minutes before closing. Gene who seems to take care of me most often, was again very courteous and knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable about what would be done and when it would be done.
